Lauren Underwood was awarded one of the two 2024 ACEC/MA Young Professional Awards which “recognizes the accomplishments of our young professionals who have contributed to the engineering profession and impacted society.” Congrats Lauren!

Principals Ryan Allgrove and Ziad Kary were also present to accept the Bronze award for Town of Weymouth’s project, “Weymouth Sewer Collapse Emergency Response: Turning Historic Infrastructure into Innovative Solutions on Bridge Street.” Congrats to the entire project team!

Also kudos to Adam Kran, P.E. for being the recipient of this year’s William H McGinness Member of the Year Award! This is given to an affiliate member of MWWA whose knowledge and contributions to the profession merit special recognition. Adam goes above and beyond to serve his clients, and is committed to identifying the right infrastructure solutions for the communities that he works with.

Grace and Jon presented “Tools in the Toolbox: Developing a Water System Master Plan” discussing how WSMPs can help utilities assess their system’s existing infrastructure and provide a roadmap for future capital improvements projects.

Project Manager Ryan Paul (center) with support team Lauren Howe (left) and Maria George (right) were present to accept the Bronze award for Town of Lexington’s stormwater project, “Elevating Resilience: Lexington Leverages Green Infrastructure for Stormwater Solutions.”

The Oxbow Road residential area in Lexington, MA has a long history of localized flooding. The neighboring major highway system contributes substantial stormwater runoff into the municipal drainage system and its discharge to Kiln Brook. EP’s naturalized approach to blend gray and green infrastructure components addressed the drainage challenges while providing an elevated aesthetic to the residential area through use of a vegetated retaining wall and restoration of the wetland areas along the drainage easement.

While the engineering goal was to address complex stormwater issues with a multifaceted approach, the design goal was to create something that looked completely natural and discrete. The living retaining wall and plant species were selected to ensure that this project disappeared and enhanced the landscape and community.
